Tailgating as a Panther

Image
Not sure how to make proper tailgate foods when you are getting pumped up for that Brewer's or Panther Baseball game? No worries, UWM Executive Chef Matt Powers is teaching University Housing residents how to grill savory burgers, brats and other traditional tailgate foods tonight at 7 p.m. in the Sandburg. This class is one of many in a UWM cooking class series aimed at helping students learn how to cook both the Wisconsin classics and the ethnic dishes so they can appreciate the art of independence despite having a conveniently located cafeteria in their building. In the past, Powers and his staff of professional chefs have taught students how to roll sushi, decorate cakes, and the cafe's delicious soups. If students want to remake the recipes they learn at one of these classes, or simply want to whip out one of their homestyle favorites there are several locations within University Housing where residents can cook. All residents in Sandburg East Tower, Purin Hall, and Kenilw...

What to Bring!!

Image
Future Panthers,  As more of you are continue to fill out your housing contracts, I am sure you are asking my favorite question! "What should I bring when I move into the residence halls?" In my personal opinion, less is always more! You don't need to bring all of you belongings during move-in. Bring what you know you will need, and then determine how much space you really have once both you and your roommate have moved in. You can always bring more items after you move in!! Also you can visit our website  for more information on move-in dates!  Below are some suggested and optional items to bring when you move-in. Suggested Items to Bring Extra-long bedding Alarm clock Clothes hangers Towels & washcloth Bathrobe & shower shoes Toiletries (including toilet paper) Small toiletries container Laundry basket/bag & detergent Coffee mug & dishes Plastic storage containers Umbrella Headphones Flashlight Dry Erase board Cleaning supplies for room Cleaning supplies...

A New Addition to the Outreach Team

Image
Hello there! Not only am I the one and only Kenlei Cowell, but I am also the newest addition to the University Housing Outreach team! I am so excited to work with the University Housing family because this community is a wonderful place to have fun, eat great food, and work on my professional development. This is my third year at UW-Milwaukee, as well as my third year living in Sandburg Residence Hall. I lived in the Honors LLC my freshman year, and have stuck around to live in East Tower upperclassmen housing for the past two years. The diverse atmosphere in University Housing has enabled me foster my social life and my academics towards both my Public Relations degree and my Chinese  degree. In fact, I find this community so beneficial towards my college career, that I will stay in the halls my senior year as well! Other than being a University Housing enthusiast, I enjoy reading, running, dancing like a crazy person, and of course getting involved on the UWM campus. I am the cur...
